A driver was left in serious condition after a car crashed into the back of a tractor‑trailer yesterday on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Katonah.

The crash happened as the tractor‑trailer was traveling southbound on I‑684 and attempting to exit at the Route 117 bypass.

County police said the truck driver missed the exit and slowed while trying to determine an alternate exit and whether the vehicle could fit under an upcoming overpass.

At that point, a car struck the rear of the tractor‑trailer.

The driver of the car, a 31‑year‑old Danbury resident, was taken to Westchester Medical Center.

The truck driver, a 44‑year‑old Fairfield resident, was not injured.

Police said the truck driver was issued summonses for having a restricted vehicle on the parkway, having an overweight vehicle on the parkway and failing to obey a traffic control device.
