A driver escaped without injuries after a car was struck by a train Monday in Middlesex County.

The crash happened in Helmetta, where firefighters responded and found the car on its side.

Officials said the vehicle was pinned between the train and nearby trees when crews arrived on scene.

The driver was able to get out of the car on their own and was not injured.
