A residential fire injured a first responder in Edison on Wednesday.

Firefighters were dispatched to a home at 18 Judson Street after reports of heavy smoke coming from the structure.

Officials said one first responder suffered a fall while operating at the scene and was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. The responder is expected to be evaluated for non‑life‑threatening injuries, authorities said.

The fire drew a significant response from multiple local departments. Crews focused on preventing the flames from spreading to nearby homes.

Smoke remained visible across much of the residential block as firefighters ventilated the structure.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
