The U.S. Senate has once again rejected a Democratic‑led resolution aimed at limiting President Trump’s war powers in Iran, marking the fourth failed attempt to pass the measure.

Republicans blocked the resolution in a 52–47 vote.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Democrats plan to force a vote on the measure every week for the foreseeable future.

Some Republican senators have indicated that they may support the resolution once the conflict reaches the 60‑day mark.

Following the vote, Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal sharply criticized Republican opposition, warning of political consequences. “Republicans are going to be held accountable now and in November for their unquestioning support for a war of impulse and illusion that is costing Americans literally billions of dollars,” Blumenthal said.

He also emphasized Congress’s constitutional role in matters of war, saying, “Ultimately the principles of Congress declaring war and only Congress required to be approving it is one that they need to uphold.”
