Gov. Ned Lamont's former budget deputy, Kosta Diamantis, was expected to plead guilty at a "change of plea" hearing in his second corruption case today, but instead he walked out of court with no deal.
After conferring with the judge for 20 minutes, Diamantis walked out of Bridgeport federal court with his lawyer and told News 12 Connecticut’s John Craven they will now ask to delay his bribery trial.
Neither side will comment on whether a deal fell through.
The case involves a Medicaid fraud investigation where Diamantis allegedly intervened on behalf of a Bristol eye doctor.
In October, he was convicted of extortion and bribery related to school construction contracts. He is awaiting sentencing in that case.
