A 38-year-old man accused of a slew of sex crimes was arrested earlier this month in Kent, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials say the investigation began after they received information about an individual possessing and distributing child sex abuse material through electronic devices.

Investigators executed a search warrant at the home of Cory Matthews, where they found an illegal firearm and a high-capacity magazine.

Authorities say further investigation revealed evidence leading to additional sex crime charges.

Those include predatory sexual assault against a child, rape, incest, use of a child in a sexual performance, promoting a sexual performance by a child, possessing a sexual performance by a child, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.

Matthews was arraigned and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility without bail.
