They announced legislation to stop "unfair fines and confiscations."
As News 12 has reported, officials have been cracking down on e-bikes and e-scooters and say they are dangerous to riders and pedestrians.
Some legislators say people rely on them for transportation to work and may use them instead of their car because of rising gas prices.
One resident says his e-bike was impounded last week while he was riding it near his home.
"I'm a responsible bike owner. I never been charged with a crime before, and I may end up with a criminal record over this," says West Hempstead resident Carmine Macchia.
News 12 reached out to County Executive Bruce Blakeman's office, but hasn't heard back yet.
