Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a general agreement for the fiscal year 2027 state budget Thursday morning in Albany.

Hochul says the $268 billion funding package aims to improve public safety, affordability, infrastructure, housing and the environment.

It will include major investments to put New York on a path to universal, affordable childcare.

Hochul says it will tackle utility costs and lower auto insurance rates for New Yorkers.

The budget will also include reforms to cut red tape and speed up building for critically needed housing and infrastructure projects.

Protections against escalation and aggressive immigration enforcement by ICE are also included, according to Hochul.

The budget will contribute to online protection and privacy requirements to protect children from predators and AI chatbots.
