The biggest sporting event in the world is kicking off in June at Met Life Stadium, and everyone gets to join in on the festivities.

The FIFA World Cup is expected to bring thousands of fans to the tri-state area.

For some students, the pitch is coming to them through the Soccer Streets program.

The goal is for schools and children across New York City to be able to experience the World Cup.

World Cup "czar" Maya Handa said the city is launching a soccer takeover at 50 schools, including P.S. 32 in Belmont, from Monday through June 26.

A traveling field will roll up to the curb, close the road, and transform it into a soccer street for kids to play matches, practice skills and root for their classmates.

The city is also hosting free fan zones in each borough with watch parties and experiences throughout the duration of the games.
