A Flatbush woman called News 12 to take action after a recurring leak in her ceiling.
Valencia George says firefighters responded to a leak just last week. Video shows the leak comes from her bathroom ceiling light.
“It could spark a fire. Something dangerous could happen. It's scary because I could be sleeping or I could be coming down and it's just really it's a scary situation for me and my daughter, " said George.
News 12 crews observed water damage on her bathroom ceiling and walls. George says it's only a matter of time until the next leak.
“This water leak has been going on for months," said George.
George has filed 311 complaints and says she's been messaging her landlord but claims that the issue has never been fixed.
News 12 spoke with her landlord, who claims that the leak has been fixed on past occasions and that George has signed work orders for it. The landlord did not want to provide those work orders to News 12.
George says she's signed work orders for other issues in the apartment, but none regarding the ceiling leak.
Regardless, the landlord claims the issue is in the process of being fixed.
A spokesperson for New York City Housing Preservation and Development told News 12 in a statement, "No tenant should have to live with flooding in their apartment. The agency takes these conditions seriously and has scheduled an inspection for this evening. Violations will be issued where warranted, and if a violation is found, the landlord will be responsible for correcting the condition and making the necessary repairs.”
