A family-owned Bronx flower shop is blooming thanks to the Knicks.
Global Roses Inc. in West Farms has been in business for 40 years, but owner Rodolfo Almazo says this year's playoff run brought the shop attention unlike anything they've seen before.
The buzz started when his daughter, Nicole Almazo, created custom Knicks-themed bouquets by spray painting roses orange and pairing them with blue flowers. After posting the arrangements on social media, the bouquets quickly went viral and were even featured on Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart's podcast.
"I got super, super excited. I started crying," Nicole said. "I was like, 'Oh my God, this is a big step for my parents.'"
To celebrate the team's success, the family gave away a bouquet after every Knicks playoff win. The promotion helped drive even more attention to the business, with customers calling daily to place orders.
"It's priceless," Rodolfo said. "It's something that we couldn't imagine."
Now, with the Knicks' season over, the family hopes to continue its sports-themed creations and is already looking ahead to designing bouquets for Yankees fans.
