A Brooklyn resident was reunited with two irreplaceable family heirlooms thanks to the determination of New York City sanitation workers.
The resident realized two family rings had been accidentally thrown away and reached out to the city for help, the sanitation department wrote in a social media post.
After locating the truck that collected the trash, sanitation crews dumped its contents and sifted through piles of garbage in search of the missing jewelry.
Although a needle in a haystack, the workers were able to find both rings and returned them to their owner.
