The area around Nassau Community College is expected to be quite busy Friday when President Donald Trump visits the Nassau Police Academy, located on the college’s campus.

“The area is a hot zone. We have a lot of road closures that are going to come,” Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said.

County Executive Bruce Blakeman said there will be street closures in Uniondale, Garden City, Mineola, East Meadow and Hempstead. He said for security purposes, they cannot give specifics but did say that it will have a “minimal effect” on homeowners and residents.

“It will affect more businesses located in that area,” Blakeman said.

Officials advise Long Island residents to avoid the area if they can.

For those with tickets to the rally, gates open at noon. The police commissioner said once they are inside, they are in for the duration.

The event begins at 3 p.m.

There will also be designated areas for protesters off Perimeter Road in Uniondale.

A spokesperson for Nassau Community College told News 12 that the Secret Service has been there all week, checking cameras and spaces, to make sure the college is well prepared for the visit.

Nassau Community College will be closed on Friday.
