Man killed in Downtown Brooklyn e-bike crash identified by police

They say the bikers were going in opposite directions and Bakas lost control and crashed into the bicyclist.

Police have released the identity of the man killed in an e-bike crash in Downtown Brooklyn on Monday.

Thomas Martin Bakas, 77, was killed after he slammed his e-bike into a 47-year-old man riding a bicycle at Smith Street and Schermerhorn Street, according to police.

They say the bikers were going in opposite directions and Bakas lost control and crashed into the bicyclist.

Bakas was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The man on the bike was not hurt.
