A sinkhole at the corner of E. 34th Street and Glenwood Road in Flatbush has reappeared not long after crews from the city supposedly fixed it.

"It was just patched up," said Phaedra Manning, who lives in the area. "When it just decides 'OK, today I'm going to cave in,' it'll just cave in and swallow somebody with it."

Manning first called 311 and posted on social media about the sink hole back on Oct. 3.

By Oct. 4, she had a new post up, showing that it was fixed.

But less than two weeks later, on Oct. 16, she showed it was back.

"I was like 'absolutely not,'" Manning remembers thinking.

She tells News 12 that not only is the hole bigger than it was the first time, but she is noticing it getting deeper and worse each day.

"It's huge," she said. "A lot of people could fall in there, you could be walking and then 'bang,' it's like Houdini."

While she has tried calling 311 and reporting it again, she says she is still waiting to hear back.

"I don't want anybody getting hurt," Manning said. "Enough people are already dying, why should we have someone get swallowed by a sink hole?"

The New York City Department of Transportation did have signs posted that they were doing work on the block, but a source tells News 12, that is just to resurface the road.

Instead, any work that had been done, or still needs to be done with the hole is the responsibility of the city's Department of Environmental Protection.

"Putting a band-aid on it is not going to fix the issue," said Manning. "You have to get to the root of the problem before it turns into something bigger than it needs to be."

The DEP tells News 12 that it will send a crew to inspect the area and make sure it is safe, but did not provide a timeline.
