Eighteen people were hurt, including two firefighters, during an apartment building fire in the Belmont section of the Bronx, according to fire officials.

The fire erupted on the second-floor of 2174 Crotona Ave. before 7:45 a.m. Thursday.

The FDNY says the blaze extended into other areas of the building and escalated to a second alarm around seven minutes later.

Officials say EMS treated the eighteen victims on scene. They all suffered minor injuries.

The Red Cross says it responded to the scene and is assisting impacted residents.
