Monday marked the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that changed the lives of New Yorkers and our nation forever. Many gathered across the boroughs to pay their respects, including community members who chose to reflect at the 9/11 memorial garden at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in the Bronx.
Among the nearly 3,000 lives lost in 2001, 144 of them were Bronx residents. Their names are now etched at the memorial garden in Morris Park and will live on forever.
"In the face of pure evil, we saw heroic acts of bravery, solidarity and service," said Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado.
A moment of silence was also held as elected officials vowed to continue the fight to help the nation heal.
