Three parking garages in Parkchester once again have 24-hour attendants after they were fired this summer, thanks to area residents concerned about their safety and protection.
Residents organized the efforts after the removal of attendants this summer, which made the parking garages a potential danger for assaults and other crimes. Led by resident Deborah Mizell, the neighborhood held two town meetings and collected 800 signatures on a petition to get the parking garage attendants reinstated.
Community leaders say they are planning a public meeting next month to discuss more anti-crime efforts.
