3 Bronx residents recovering from shooting following White Plains basketball tournament

Police tell News 12 that three people from the Bronx were shot in White Plains, following a popular basketball tournament in Gardella Park.
White Plains Public Safety Commissioner David Chong said the gunfire began on Church Street after one of the semifinal games of the annual tournament around 10 p.m.
Police said two groups got into an argument while walking to their cars before the shots rang out.
According to residents, the game brought out a large crowd, as it has typically done in the past.
Residents say they are used to cleaning alcohol bottles and trash off of their lawns, but weren't prepared for the shots fired on their street.
We heard all of these noises - 'Pop pop pop!,'" said resident, Kathy Guglielmo. "Everyone at first thought it was firecrackers. That's when we found out a number of people had been shot."
Resident Brian Flynn recalled finding the unidentified 24-year-old woman and a man sitting on his lawn, as police bandaged them up before taking them to Westchester Medical Center.
"There was a lady in her car right by that bush there and they had taken her out of the car and laid her on the grass. The other feller ...he was here for a minute or two, then they took him to the hospital as well," said Flynn.
Police say are still searching for the shooters but say there is no threat to the general public. They are asking anyone who witnessed the scene or has video to call 914-432-6210.
The City of White Plains released a statement canceling the championship game of the tournament originally scheduled for Sunday at the County Center and shut down the league. Ferris World Ball founder Gerard Seward also released a statement following the shooting, saying their "hearts go out to all impacted," and they are devastated that their 1984 established program has been "ruined" for so many.
