Three employees with the city's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene pleaded guilty to stealing gift cards meant for clients.

News 12 learned Thursday that a program planner, a former deputy director and a current fiscal analyst all plead guilty to stealing over $4,800 in gift cards meant for HIV/AIDS research participants.

One of those employees is 59-year-old Lisa Burgess-Thomas, of the Bronx.

The Department of Investigation says she specifically used over $1,500 in those stolen gift cards.

Burgess-Thomas must now resign by the end of February and pay back the money.
