3 men arrested in connection with Hunts Point bodega assault

According to the NYPD, the trio got into an argument with a 40-year-old man inside a bodega at 772 Hunts Point Ave. on Feb. 19.

Police now have three men in custody following a brazen assault inside a Hunts Point bodega.

Police say 25-year-old Jhonathan Sanchez Vargas, 27-year-old Jhon Sanchez Vargas and 22-year-old Rikeylin Tejada Garcia are facing a number of charges including attempted murder, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon.

According to the NYPD, the trio got into an argument with a 40-year-old man inside a bodega at 772 Hunts Point Ave. on Feb. 19. One of them pulled out a gun and punched the man in the face. A second person then pistol-whipped him multiple times, causing cuts. Several shots were fired as well, damaging property inside the store.

The victim was treated at a hospital.
