A man has been convicted in the murder of a toddler on Easter Sunday nine years ago in Morris Heights.
According to police, on April 16, 2006, Darryl Hemphill lost a fistfight before returning in retaliation with a gun. Prosecutors say he intended to shoot his rivals, but instead the bullet struck 2-year-old David Pacheco Jr., as he was riding in his mom's car.
Hemphill, 37, of Cary, North Carolina, was convicted of murder and now faces 25 years to life in prison when sentenced in January.
