The NYPD says 39-year-old Julia Anderson of Mount Vernon was shot multiple times in the chest and killed just before midnight near the corner of Murdock and Nereid avenues in the Wakefield section of The Bronx.

Police had multiple evidence markers around a black Jeep, which had two bullet holes in the front passenger side window, and at least one bullet casing in front of it.

A person living across the street told News 12 off camera they heard two gun shots, then a woman screaming for help.

Sources say other witnesses saw a moped speed away from the scene right after the shots were fired, but it is not known if that was the shooter or just someone trying to get away.

The location is right near the border with Mount Vernon, and police say Anderson lived less than a mile away, across the Westchester border.

So far, police have not released any information about what led to the shooting, or a description of any suspect.
