Four media companies will be paying fines for violating the online privacy of children.
According to state Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman, Viacom, Mattel, Hasbro, and JumpStar Games allowed third-party vendors, such as advertising companies, to track children's online activity.
They will pay a combined $835,000 in penalties, agreed to perform regular security scans of their sites and will screen advertisers who place ads.
They also agreed to periodically give reports to the New York attorney general proving compliance with the law.
