Police say a man is in stable condition after being hit by a car on the Major Deegan Expressway Wednesday.
It happened on the Bronx-Westchester boarder near the East 233rd Street exit ramp around 3 a.m.
Police say the 40-year-old man attempted to cross the expressway when a car traveling southbound hit him. The man was transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital, and he is listed in stable condition.
Police say the driver of the vehicle did stay on the scene and is cooperating with officials. A section of the highway was temporarily blocked as they investigated the incident.
Officials say the man who crossed the road may have been intoxicated.
On Christmas morning, a 67-year old man died in a hit-and-run accident on the Major Deegan when he was struck by two cars.
