Multiple people were injured in a cell fire on Rikers Island Thursday.
Five inmates and 10 staff members on Rikers Island were taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation after authorities say an inmate set his cell on fire.
A Department of Correction spokesperson says the department will pursue the re-arrest of the individual involved depending on the outcome of the investigation.
The fire started in a cell at the north infirmary command around 1:20 p.m.
The flames were extinguished, but the cause is still under investigation.
