A 5-year-old boy from the Bronx who was pulled from the Playland pool in Rye last Thursday has died, according to his family's attorney.
The boy died last night at Westchester Medical Center, where he had been transferred from Greenwich Hospital. The cause of death was asphyxiation due to drowning, the attorney said.
Detectives originally reported that the child had a medical episode, possibly a seizure, in the amusement park's swimming pool Thursday afternoon. He was removed from the pool and administered CPR by first responders before being taken to the hospital.
Funeral services for the boy are scheduled for today. The family has chosen not to release their name.
