Authorities confirm that eight weather-related deaths occurred this weekend in New York City.
Police originally discovered five weather-related deaths on Jan. 24.
They say two bodies were discovered in Brooklyn, another was discovered in Queens, and two others were discovered in Manhattan.
A sixth body was discovered in Queens around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday
Police have confirmed two more people were found dead, one in The Bronx and the other in Brooklyn.
The deaths occurred amid plummeting temperatures, which prompted a citywide Code Blue alert from Saturday until Tuesday, Jan 27. at 8 a.m.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani reacted to the news on X Saturday, saying in part, “it is a reminder that every year New Yorkers succumb to the cold. The danger of this weather cannot be overstated.”
