An 82-year-old Brooklyn-based doctor hospitalized with coronavirus is on the road to recovery.
Dr. Leonid Goldin has been practicing medicine for decades.
In mid-March, Goldin said he began to feel ill.
"I started to feel weak, weakness in my legs, I was not able to walk," said Goldin.
Things got worse on April 4. Goldin said he was confused, had a high fever and shortness of breath. That night he was admitted to Mount Sinai South Nassau.
Goldin moved to the U.S. in 1977 from the Soviet Union. Up until March, he practiced internal medicine in Brighton Beach and Bensonhurst.
He is at-risk because of his age. Plus, he is pre-diabetic and has high blood pressure.
After three weeks in the hospital on a CPAP machine, Goldin started feeling better.
He is now recovering with an oxygen machine and a physical therapist in Brooklyn.
Goldin's family says he is already thinking about when he can start to see patients again.
