Heading out of town this Labor Day weekend?
AAA says Thursday and Friday will be two of the busiest travel days of the holiday weekend. Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. is also expected to be jam-packed on the roads.
If you’re turning to the sky, TSA expects airports to be screening a record number of passengers. Prices are playing a big role in the uptick of travelers this weekend. Booking data shows domestic flights are 2% cheaper than last year. International flights are also down 8%.
“When you consider New York City is the fourth most popular destination for the holiday, we have a lot of people leaving the area we have a lot of people coming to the area they mix in the afternoon and it gets very busy,” said Robert Sinclair Jr., senior manager of public affairs for AAA.
If you are relying on public transit this weekend there will be no 2 train service between the Bronx and Manhattan. A free shuttle bus will be running as an alternative. On Monday, Sept 2 all buses will be operating on a Saturday schedule.
