The judge has decided to order yet another psychiatric evaluation of Jose Gonzales, who is accused of fatally running over EMT Yadira Arroyo in her own ambulance almost two years ago.
Prosecutors say Gonzales, 25, was high on PCP while trying to hijack the ambulance and running over Arroyo in the process in March 2017.
After conflicting reports from mental health evaluators on both sides, the judge wasn't convinced whether or not Gonzales was fit to stand trial.
After the prosecutor and defense attorney questioned the defense's expert forensic psychiatrist for hours in court today, the judge ordered another evaluation to determine Gonzales' mental fitness.
For now, Arroyo's family and friends say they are frustrated and still heartbroken, but have faith in the system.
Gonzales is remanded until his next court date on March 14.
