Animal rights activists held a rally in the Bronx Sunday to protest the killing of a pit bull who was shot by police.
The protest was held in front of the 46th Precinct.
On Feb. 13, police responded to a domestic violence call at an East 184th Street apartment. Police said the dog, named Spike, charged at them, prompting the gunfire.
Video from the scene shows the 4-year-old dog approach the officers as they stand outside a neighboring apartment. An officer who was standing on the stairs then fires a single shot to the dog's head.
Animal rights activists say the police officer had no right to shoot the animal.
