Community advocates are blasting Mayor Bill de Blasio on his comments and views about police-involved killings in other cities.

They gathered outside NYPD headquarters to demand that de Blasio take action in his own city.

The group spoke on behalf of families still seeking justice for their loved ones who they claim were unjustly killed by police. They say accountability starts with the mayor.

Advocates point to the death of Kawaski Trawick, saying justice has yet to be served.

Trawick was shot and killed in his Bronx home by an NYPD officer in in 2019.

Video released by the Bronx District Attorney shows the moments leading to when Trawick was shot in his kitchen while holding a knife.

The results of an NYPD internal investigation in the case found no wrongdoing by the officers and the DA's investigation found no criminality.

The group is calling for the Civilian Complaint Review Board to push for misconduct charges so that a disciplinary trial could take place to potentially fire the officers involved in his death.

In a statement, the mayor's office said, "The findings of the NYPD internal investigation and Bronx District Attorney are components of the city's robust investigative and accountability process for police misconduct. The investigation from the CCRB, the country's preeminent police civilian oversight body, is still underway."

Advocates say they'll keep the pressure on until there is accountability and real reform in policing in neighborhoods, especially in communities of color.
