A group is calling for more to be done in the recovery process two months after the Twin Parks fire that killed 17 people.

The Gambian Youth Organization released a lengthy community advocacy plan that is full of urgent needs that it says must be addressed.

The GYO, residents of Twin Parks, and community members had a long discussion and came up with the call to action. It includes a request for the city to expedite the relocation process for tenants and an immediate inquiry by the State Department to investigate why family members of the deceased are having their visas denied.

The group says it would also like improved communication for those displaced residents who are still in hotels.

The plan has been posted online and they're asking people to sign it in support.

Their goal is for elected officials to speed up the recovery process.

In a statement, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson told News 12, “We are working diligently with representatives at all levels of government, as well as CVR, building management, and different organizations to ensure residents are receiving the needed resources for long-term recovery, as well as ensuring that residents are carefully placed in long term housing that meets their individual needs.”
