New affordable housing for senior citizens is currently being built in Mount Eden.
The 14-story building will be for people 62 and older. Thirty-seven of the units will be for the “chronically homeless.”
The project is being built by the Volunteers of America-Greater New York, which has built other residences in the Bronx.
A spokesman says it’s addressing a “huge need” in the borough.
The building is expected to be completed by 2020. Anyone who wants to apply to live there will need to go through the city Housing Preservation and Development’s lottery system.
