A Bronx park is celebrating Women’s History Month with a special exhibit that will return live this month for the first time in two years.
Visitors can take in the beautiful artwork titled “ Evolve Your Vision and Open Your Mind.”
Bronx artist Gloria Zapata put together the gallery to celebrate Women’s History Month. The silhouette portrait paintings feature Aretha Franklin, Celia Cruz, Rosa Parks and Adele among many other prominent women.
The artist says she’d like viewers to see her work as the world in black and white with a splash of color.
As an Afro-Latina and lesbian, Zapata says she drew inspiration from the larger-than-life figures.
There are other Women’s History Month galleries at Poe Park’s visitor center. It’s open next week Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Starting the week of the March 21, it’s open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
