Police are offering a $2,000 fast cash reward to identify and locate the person responsible for murdering a Mastic Beach teen last year.
According to police, Marcel Arrington, 18, was shot to death in front of 244 Bayview Drive in Mastic Beach on Oct. 26 at approximately 9:10 p.m.
The victim's mother, Maria Arrington, was left broken.
"I don't have any more kids, he was my everything and now my future is shattered now," Maria Arrington says.
Arrington was a well-known athlete at William Floyd High School.
Police say the reward will be issued within 72 hours of information leading to an arrest in the case.
Maria Arrington was disappointed over the low amount of money offered by police, and says family members have offered their own $10,000 reward.
"I completely understand the frustration, she lost her one and only child," says Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison. "I'm working with Crime Stoppers personally to see if we can up the reward. I think that's very, very important, but we have to solve this case. We need people to come forward."
Anyone with information about the incident can contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
