President Donald Trump’s campaign has filed a lawsuit to stop the vote counting and to open counting facilities to GOP observers as the fate of the presidential election hangs in the balance.

Gov. Tom Wolf said that there are still tens of thousands of ballots still to count and that it was likely that the result wouldn't be known on Wednesday.

Trump claimed victory in Pennsylvania via a Twitter post around 5 p.m. Wednesday, along with several other states – even though vote counting is still underway.

In a statement, the president’s campaign called the normal and routine count of these mail- ins “late and illegal.”

Wolf vowed that every vote in Pennsylvania that was received in time will be counted.

“Make no mistake, our democracy is being tested in this election. This is a stress test of the ideals of which this country was founded. And the basic rule of one person one vote that still carries. And it has to carry here,” Wolf said.

A group of demonstrators had gathered outside the Pennsylvania state Capitol in Harrisburg Wednesday evening to protest Trump’s efforts to stop the vote counting.
