Alleged hijab-snatching teacher faces new accusations
A second student is accusing the P.S. 76 substitute who allegedly tore off a girl's hijab of abuse.
Joel Lucas, 7, says the teacher turned on him after tearing off the girl's headwear, allegedly striking him twice.
The second-grader claims the teacher ordered him to open his mouth so he could have a look at his gold tooth. When the child refused, the teacher allegedly tried to stick his fingers into the boy's mouth.
"This alleged behavior is completely unacceptable," the Department of Education said in a statement after the hijab incident. "This individual was removed from the school immediately, and his employment has been terminated."
When asked about the second student's accusations, the DOE replied with the same statement and offered no further details.
