The mayor's office announced Tuesday that alternate side parking is suspended as of March 18 through at least March 24. 

This comes as many people are now working from home or in quarantine. Depending on street cleanliness or workforce availability, the suspension could be extended. 

 

De Blasio stated that they will see how it goes for this week and that Sanitation has to make sure the streets are clean. 

The New York City Department of Transportation is telling New Yorkers that if they received a parking ticket while under isolation, they can appeal to the Department of Finance and also provide medical documentation or testimony. 

Parking meters are not exempt, and New Yorkers will still have to pay for that in the five boroughs.

Mayor Bill de Blasio told New Yorkers to prepare for a possible shelter-in-place order.  A decision is set to be made within the next 48 hours, according to the mayor.
