The annual ZP Greek Festival in Pelham Bay was ready to weather the storm, having set up tents so Bronx residents could still enjoy the festivities rain or shine.
The festival helps to raise money for the Zoodohos Peghe church and has become a tradition for many in the Greek community.
"So the young generations know their roots, we came from Greece. Most of us are second and third generations, we keep the tradition and culture," said Vasilios Louros, a priest at the church.
The five-day event celebrates the start of summer and offers rides, games, tons of homemade and authentic Greek dishes and pastries, and traditional dances and performances by students from the Greek American Institute.
