Anti-violence are working to get their message out despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Violent crime is down from last year, according to data from the NYPD. Elite Learners Inc. has not stopped patrolling hot spots across Brownsville and East Flatbush even though these numbers decreased.
During this time, the message of safety has changed. Save Our Streets S.O.S., of Crown Heights, moved their work online and turned to social media to get the word out.
Staff members are working with The Rise Project on virtual workshops to learn more about the topic of abuse.
Save Our Streets S.O.S. aims to continue doing outreach online as much as possible, and Elite Learners Inc. would like its office to be designated as an essential service by the city and is operating a new office in East Flatbush.
