At least 10 Long Island school districts are being impacted by a PowerSchool data breach.

News 12 confirmed that the school districts of Jericho, Hicksville, Glen Cove, West Hempstead, Lynbrook, Middle Country, Massapequa, Smithtown Central, Nassau BOCES, and Uniondale were impacted by the data breach.

PowerSchool says their system used by parents, students and teachers for grades and attendance was hacked in December.

The company tells News 12 social security numbers and medical information may have been involved in the breach.

It's not clear how many schools in total on Long Island have been impacted by the data breach.

News 12 asked PowerSchool, and a spokesperson for the company says they are not disclosing which districts are affected.

Schools that confirm they use PowerSchool have sent out notices about the breach. Administrators with Smithtown Central say they believe this issue was limited in scope and that it has been contained, and many of the schools have reset passwords for PowerSchool.

PowerSchool says it is working to find out whose data may have been stolen. There may be more schools on Long Island affected.
