Police say a 23-year-old attempted murder suspect escaped out of the 40th Precinct in the Bronx on Monday.
The suspect, Eduardo Lacen, was caught on camera running out of the precinct’s stationhouse in Mott Haven. The video shows a detective who was processing him chasing after the suspect.
The incident took place around 1:30 p.m. Monday. An officer was stationed at the front entrance today, which is required as a safety measure at all precincts. Local residents were surprised that the suspect was able to leave the building so easily.
Lacen was apprehended about 12 hours later in Concourse Village, approximately 30 blocks from the precinct.
The NYPD says charges are pending against the 23-year-old suspect.
