Despite voters in New York now being allowed to hand in their ballots before Election Day, there are only seven polling sites throughout the Bronx.

Perry Grossman, an attorney with the Voting Rights Project, says early voting may not necessarily ease the process for some Bronx residents because there aren't enough places to vote in the borough.

He says that the Bronx and Staten Island have the same amount of early voting sites, even though the Bronx has four times as many voters.

The NYC Board of Elections tells News 12 in a statement, "The Commissioners of the Board of Elections in the city of New York is committed to ensuring voters of the city of New York have a positive early voting experience. Under consultation with various other jurisdictions that have implemented early voting, the unanimous recommendation was that we use a phased approach. The board is considering additional voting sites for the 2019 general election and has committed to increasing the number of sites for the April presidential primary."

The early voting period begins 10 days before Election Day and finishes the day before.
