The Attorney General's Office of Special Investigation has launched an investigation into a police-involved shooting that occurred just before Christmas in the Bronx.

Authorities say police responded to a 911 call Saturday on Crescent Avenue. Upon arrival, they were met with a 19-year-old woman who had cut wounds on her face.

Police then found Michael Dotel inside the apartment with his mother in a chokehold and a carving knife to her throat.

Police say they had to act quickly and shot Dotel in the head.

Both the 19-year-old woman and the mother are expected to be OK, according to authorities.
