The NYPD is on the search for a missing 16-year-old mother and her 2-week-old son after they say they've both been missing since Monday night.
Police say the mother and son were last seen inside of their East New York apartment, and local neighbors have already begun searching for 16-year-old Zariya Bennett and her son Kayden. They say she lives at 473 Pennsylvania Ave.
Zariya Bennett is 5'7 tall, approximately 130 pounds, and has a dark complexion, according to police.
Some of Bennett's former classmates say they knew she just had a baby and have started to share her photo across social media.
"She was a good person, she always helped me with my work," said Janiece Neville, Zariya's former classmate. "We were good friends... this is a serious situation. We don't know what happened but she's not here and we have to find her."
Authorities say Zairya Bennett was last seen wearing gray sweatpants.
The NYPD is urging anyone with information to call NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-88-57-PISTA (74782). All calls are strictly confidential, police say.
