An NYPD officer and a man from Yonkers have been charged with selling narcotics, according to New York officials.
Authorities say NYPD Officer Grace Rosa Baez, 37, of the Bronx, and Cesar Martinez, 43, of Yonkers, offered to sell fentanyl, heroin and cocaine to a "confidential source" between Oct. 9 and Oct. 19. Baez is accused of telling the source the fentanyl was top quality and to meet her on or around Oct. 16 to obtain a sample of the drugs available for sale.
The confidential source met Baez near an apartment shared by Baez and Martinez in Yonkers for the distribution, according to authorities. Baez allegedly gave the source a bottle containing a clear bag filled with a white powdery substance, which was identified as fentanyl. The same meetup took place Oct. 17 for heroin distribution, according to investigators.
Following multiple meetups, police apprehended Baez and Martinez in their shared apartment and found the suspected narcotics.
Baez and Martinez are being charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and heroin.
