An anti-violence outreach program involving professional athletes and the community is coming to the Bronx this summer.
Called Shooting 4 Peace, the program launched last year in Baltimore with the mission of using sports to unite communities torn apart by riots.
On Thursday, program founder and former Philadelphia Eagles player Ray Sydnor and other officials announced that the event will join the community's Fun in the Sun summer event. The weekend of tournaments will bring together professional athletes, community leaders, NYPD officers and Bronx residents.
The pros will even face off against some local legends from courts and colleges across the borough. The goal is to promote unity and nonviolence.
The tournament will be held Aug. 4 and 5. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. All of the money will go toward local charities.
