Beardsley Park is inviting the public to its fish ladder on the Pequonnock River Trail.

Fish ladders are to help fish swim around disruption in the water.

According to former Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch, the fish ladder is the tallest in the Northeast.

"This fish ladder's been here for many years and we see from our kitchen window bald eagles and osprey that were endangered and threatened coming back and having plentiful food here on the beautiful Pequonnock River which of course is the river that forms the Bridgeport Harbor," said Finch.

The fish ladder has been recognized as a positive way to restore fish passage and the environment, says Finch.
